THE CREATIVITY ENHANCEMENT SCHEME
encouraging ingenious and experiment-oriented students ready to be catalysts of positive change through innovation
WHAT
The creativity enhancement project is a tour of schools within the Greater Accra Region to engage with students in science fairs and projects, arts and crafts and talent shows all aimed at eliciting the yearn for exploration amongst students.
WHY
The Ghanaian system, to an extent, has the tendency of breeding rigid individuals by shunning rather than rewarding creativity. For instance, a child interested in music or dance will be told to focus on customary career tracks such as medicine, engineering or law instead. And while it is understandable since these are ‘safe’ options, especially in a society like ours where the arts are not really appreciated, it is scientifically proven that children granted the space to indulge in creative explorations and extracurriculars are more likely to outperform those who don’t within and outside those activities.
WHO
The project will be targeting primary school students between the ages of 6 and 12.
WHEN
The tours will commence in January 2022, with the first tour taking place on the 21st of January 2022.
HOW
A run down of how the tours will go about:

-
We will run either 1 of the 3 schemes in each school (Science Fair, Arts and Craft, Talent Show)
-
At every school, we will donate school supplies and sports accessories to equip them with the appropriate materials needed to ensure that the children continue to explore creativity.
-
We will distribute Covid-19 safety packages consisting of nose masks and hand sanitisers to ensure the students are able to keep safe even as they tap into their creativity.
-
On the day of our visit to each school, we will prepare and distribute food and appetisers to the students and teachers.
01
THE SCIENCE FAIR
The science fair will consist of some list of scientific experiments and investigations that will allow the students to practice the lessons they are learning in school. Students will be put in groups of 5 and will perform these experiments under the supervision of volunteers. We will have some older science students and teachers around to help explain and demonstrate to the students.
02
ARTS & CRAFTS
After demonstration from some established members in this field, students will be tasked to recreate and/or create artistic pieces for themselves ranging from painting to small scale building and assembling.
03
TALENT SHOW
The talent show will have a showcase of talents from different fields for the students. Afterwards, the students will be granted the opportunity to also showcase their talents. Prizes will be awarded to deserving students in addition to items that will help them to further explore their talents.
04
DONATIONS
At every school, we will donate school supplies and sports accessories to equip them with the appropriate materials needed to ensure the children are able to continue to explore creativity.
05
DISTRIBUTIONS
We will distribute Covid-19 safety packages consisting of nose masks and hand sanitisers to ensure the students are able to keep safe even as they tap into their creativity.
